VERITAS achievements and project progress was summarized during the final conference held at the coordinating institution – Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) on 12th of October 2017. The conference aimed at presenting the project progress along with the main challenges in the field of 3rd cycle of Higher Education in Armenia. This resulted in active discussions and presentations of the main issues for doctoral education to the stakeholders of the field and guests of the conference.
Welcome note was delivered by Konstantin Yenkoyan, YSMU Vice-rector for Science, Marine Balasanyan, the coordinator of the project, Vahram Mkrtchyan, RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science and Susanna Karakhanyan, the author of the project and the management team member.
Project management team came up with the project progress and achievements and pointed out the challenges VERITAS faced and addressed to the main stakeholders. They highlighted the importance of the project and its implementation after its completion. Best practice and case studies on development and implementation of doctoral programmes were presented by KTH, YSULS and NasRA representatives. YSMU presented the current challenges for supervision, while ANQA representative outlined the developments of external quality assurance system introducing the QA standards and criteria for Doctoral Education and the current practice of external evaluation of doctoral programmes at 11 HEIs. All the presentations were followed by active discussions among the participants. Separate session was devoted to the poster presentations prepared by all partner institutions/organizations.
All the guests and participants were given the conference promotional materials and publications.
The event was culminated in certificate awarding to the project partners and working group members.
